Deck Remodel
A newly remodeled deck peers over Lake Jackson in Sebring, FL.
Decked Out: A Scenic Spot to Unwind
Peering out over Lake Jackson, this deck remodel involved structural improvements and the installation of rich hardwood that complements the beautiful coastal contemporary home. The homeowners—busy working professionals—now have a fantastic space to unwind, whether it’s morning coffee or a shared meal with a scenic backdrop.
What’s the Difference: Deck Remodel or Build New?
A deck remodel transforms an existing structure—repairing what’s underneath, upgrading materials, and improving layout or design—to create a safer, more beautiful outdoor space you’ll enjoy for years.
A new deck build starts from scratch. It’s the right choice when the structure is unsafe, severely damaged, or doesn’t meet current building codes, and involves entirely new framing, supports, and decking.
We’ll start with a thorough inspection to determine which option is best for your home and lifestyle. Questions? Reach out!

Hidden Issues, Lasting Fixes
It’s not unusual to uncover structural issues once we start opening things up—and in this case, it was rotted flashing between the home and the deck. First things first: always repair the foundational elements before moving forward!
From Composite to Character
This deck originally featured gray boards with white composite railing but the homeowners wanted something warmer and more natural. We transitioned to Tigerwood, a richly colored hardwood known for its striking grain—and its density.

We also reinforced the structure to support the added weight of the new hardwood. This included upsizing the support columns and replacing the floor joists for a safer, longer-lasting result.

While beautiful, Tigerwood isn’t the easiest material to work with. Every cut had to be precise to ensure a clean and precise finish. This richly toned deck with perfectly joined boards that adds warmth and character to this lakeside retreat.

Railing and a View
While railing is essential for safety, we didn’t want it to obstruct the beautiful view of Lake Jackson. We selected a sleek metal railing that offers security without distraction. Its clean lines and open design preserve the connection to the landscape, letting the lake remain the star of the show.
